Graphic Design Take-Home

Pick either Option 1 or Option 2 and design a graphic:


Option 1:



Prompt


Design an Instagram graphic promoting an app of your choosing. The graphic should have multiple (3+) slides and should be intended to be posted on the company’s Instagram account during a launch of the app.


Your graphic should clearly communicate the value proposition of the app and its key features or benefits. Please include a visual element (e.g. the UI of the app) beyond just text.


The graphic should have a 1:1 ratio.


Option 2:



Prompt


Design an Instagram graphic promoting the ARC app. The UC Davis ARC (Activities and Recreation Center) plays a vital role in enhancing the campus community's health, wellness, and engagement by providing access to fitness facilities, classes, programs, and recreational activities. Your goal is to demonstrate the ability to work within existing brand guidelines while retaining creativity.


Here are some things to keep in mind:


  1. Branding: Ensure that the design aligns with the app's branding guidelines, including its color scheme, typography, and logo usage.

  2. Clarity: Keep the message clear and concise. Use simple and easy-to-understand language to explain the app's key features or benefits.

  3. Audience: Understand the target audience for the app and tailor your design to appeal to their preferences and needs. Consider demographics, interests, and behaviors.


Expectations


Your goal for the take-home is to demonstrate the ability to work within existing brand guidelines while retaining creativity.

Here’s a breakdown of what we’re assessing for the take-home:


  1. Visual Design and Creativity: Is the graphic visually appealing and clean? Does the graphic follow design best practices and principles? Is it eye catching and unique?

    1. The graphic should demonstrate strong understanding of branding, typography, color theory, and layout design.

  2. Clarity: Is the messaging clear and concise? Do you use simple and easy-to-understand language to explain the app’s value to students?

  3. Audience: Does your design appeal to the target audience’s preferences and needs? Consider demographics, interests, and behaviors.

  4. Branding: Does the design adhere to the app’s branding guidelines, including its color scheme, typography, and logo usage?
