AggieExchange is an online marketplace platform designed exclusively for UC Davis students. Our goal is to provide a safe and convenient platform where students can buy and sell items directly within the campus community. By focusing on verified users and local interactions, AggieExchange aims to simplify the marketplace experience, making it easier for students to find the products they need and connect with other students nearby.

AggieExchange was born out of a common problem: existing marketplace platforms were not tailored to the needs of UC Davis students. Many students felt uncomfortable engaging with strangers in unsecured environments when buying and selling online. To address this, AggieExchange prioritizes safety and community. By ensuring that users are verified students, and enabling users to provide feedback after transactions, our platform creates a trusted space for students to interact. We’ve streamlined the interface for simplicity, allowing users to easily browse and connect over niche products relevant to student life. With convenient pickup and shipping options within Davis, AggieExchange makes buying and selling stress-free.

CONCLUSION
AggieExchange has been an exciting opportunity for our team to bring an innovative solution to the UC Davis community. Over the past year, we’ve welcomed over 400 users and facilitated 40+ transactions. This journey has taught us invaluable lessons about building a marketplace from the ground up. While we saw positive engagement through marketing efforts on social media and in-person campaigns, we faced challenges in maintaining consistent user activity on the platform. Despite these hurdles, AggieExchange has proven to be a fantastic tool, and we continue to learn and improve as we grow. Right now, the site is currently under construction as we explore new opportunities in the area. We’re excited to take these lessons into the next phase of our development and continue enhancing the experience for UC Davis students.
